CUB SCOUT PACK

Pack 34 Activity Fee

Did you know that it costs Pack 34 $38.08 per scout for the normal program materials for one year? That cost breaks out as follows:

Awards$11.78
Raingutter/Pinewood/Space Derby Kits 12.00
Patches for the individual events  9.30
Handbooks for each Rank  5.00

And that is not even taking into account administrative costs for paper, postage, copying, reservations, fees, or any additional costs associated with any of our events. Much of the postage and paper costs are absorbed by the leadership. We also have to buy Pinewood Derby trophies and pay for costs incurred at the Blue & Gold Banquet. When you add in these additional costs, Pack 34 spends more than $75 per Cub per year.

We receive none of the $10 yearly registration fee. That entire fee goes to the Council and National Offices to pay for their programs. The Committee has considered paring down the program, but have decided that this is the program we want our sons to have and we need to make it work.

To that end, the Pack Committee has voted to impose a Pack Activity Fee for all Cub Scouts. The fee will be $75 per Cub Scout per Year. Compare that $75 for Pack 34's year-round program to the $60 you would pay for 6 weeks of YMCA Soccer or Little League baseball.

In order to keep Cub Scouting affordable, you are encouraged to reduce your fee by participating in the Popcorn fundraiser in the fall:

If your son sells $200 or more of popcorn, your activity fee will be $0.
If your son sells $170-199 of popcorn, your activity fee will be $10.
If your son sells $140-169 of popcorn, your activity fee will be $20.
If your son sells $110-139 of popcorn, your activity fee will be $30.
If your son sells $80-109 of popcorn, your activity fee will be $40.
If your son sells $50-79 of popcorn, your activity fee will be $50.
If your son sells less than $50 of popcorn, your activity fee will be $75.

The Pack receives 26% of the proceeds from the popcorn sale, so as you can see, this Activity Fee plan correlates with the proceeds we would receive from the Popcorn sale. We are a non-profit organization and will revise this policy as needed.

Thank you in advance for your understanding. If you have questions about the Popcorn fundraiser or about Pack 34, please contact either Dave Padgett or Bill Nahlik.
